Life insurance companies to seek nod for health indemnity

Life Insurance Council, the representative body of life insurance companies, will request the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) to allow them to offer indemnity health cover again. New premiums in April-January grow 23% for private life insurers, but fall 2% for LIC

Life insurers collected new premiums of Rs 1.59 lakh crore, showing a 5.3% YoY growth. The new business premium collection of private life insurance companies grew 22.9% year-on-year (YoY) to Rs 53,645.06 crore in the April 2018 to January 2019 period.
